Batman #158, the beginning of Hush 2, Blank Cover Comic
Released 3/26/2025
Batman #158, written by Jeph Loeb with art by Jim Lee, launches Hush 2: Chapter One – The Pawn, a direct sequel to the iconic Batman: Hush storyline. The issue opens with a classic Joker scheme—poisoning Gotham’s reservoir with laughing fish—only to be interrupted by a mysterious new figure named Silence, who kidnaps Joker and subjects him to a brutal, theatrical torture sequence.
As Batman investigates, he discovers his suit’s circuitry and the Bat-family’s comms have been compromised. Using forensic clues from Joker’s shoe, he tracks the villain to an abandoned fairground, where Joker is strapped to a spinning wheel surrounded by screens replaying his past atrocities. Batman realizes only one person could orchestrate such psychological torment: Thomas Elliot, aka Hush.
The issue blends detective work, horror, and legacy tension, with appearances from Talia al Ghul, Nightwing, and Batgirl (Barbara Gordon). It also introduces Silence as a hulking enforcer and sets up a deeper mystery involving compromised tech, fractured trust, and Gotham’s darkest memories.
Batman #158 is the first chapter in a multi-part event that reexamines Batman’s moral code and his unresolved past, with Jim Lee’s art delivering cinematic splash pages and gritty emotional beats.
